| The origins of the Guitar are a little misty and blend with the Lute, Cittern and Gittern as a group of multi stringed fretted instruments.In a recognisable form the guitar can be traced back to around 1400.
This example designed by Zachary Taylor has a slight bowl back ribbed in two woods, five courses tuned an octave apart, wooden tuning pegs and an ornate rose in the soundboard.
