One of the most individual of instruments with no two being the same! Mediaeval instrument, member of the flute family, made from the horn of European or African cattle. Due to the wide inner cone its tone resembles that of an ocarina. A slightly larger instrument than the soprano, this has an soft mellow tone. The Cip Gemshorns have a fipple carved out of the shape of the horn and the block for ease of playing The block itself is made from moisture resistant cedar. Each instrument is individually made and tuned. The block is made of water resistant cedar. A full consort of instruments are available from sopranino to sub bass but availability is limited.
