highland harp

 This harp is based on the Queen Mary Harp found in the Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh.  This version is made from American Oak, giving its distinct pinkish hue, with 22 strings (G below middle C)

 Standing 28 inches tall and 12 inches at the base. It has a removable back in common with most early harps with the sound hole being cut in the front of the sounbox.

The example here is fully levered with 22 brass cam kevers

Below is a Highland Harp in the style of the Queen Maryharp, that has been made for display in the Great Hall Tutbury Castle, in Staffordshire. Where it is used in reenactments and eductational talks by Lesley Smith the curator  of the museum.
